The first ever international spirits research centre
Forum Aquavitae is the first ever international spirits research centre. Its activities are mainly focused on spirits and, to some extent, on liqueurs and are split into:
- product experimentation;
- historiographic research into production and consumption;
- production technology experimentation;
- monitoring and experimenting consumption procedures;
- promoting spirit culture, technology and consumption through the staging of conferences, seminars, workshops and competitions.
Activities are fully monitored by a Scientific Committee chaired by Professor Mario Fregoni, honorary president of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine.
The Forum Aquavitae was set up by the Gozio family, distillers in Franciacorta, with the aim of creating a spirits research centre. It is located in Borgo Antico di San Vitale, at Borgonato, in the heart of Franciacorta, in the province of Brescia. The fully restructured complex comprises an experiential route, an experimental distillery, a conference room, a sensory analysis room and a restaurant/wine-bar.
